The graves of the "White Tigers."
Some Germans who greatly admired the Byakkotai were buried near the graves of the "White Tigers".

A shrine dedicated to the memory of the Byakkotai.
The sign says that by turning the black wheel(seen here in the upper right corner of the photo) you can pray for the souls of the Byakkotai.
The photo in the lower right corner is of the only member of the Byakkotai who survived. After the incident, he spent the rest of his life hiding the sword scar on his neck, deeply ashamed that he had failed to live up to the samurai code....
Notice the painting at the top of the photo. Here you can see the "White Tigers" commiting suicide. The sign on the rope says "Beware of falling snow!"
Statues of "White Tigers" watching the castle "burn". Behind these statues is a huge museum devoted to the Byakkotai. The museum was built by the central government .
Strangely enough, many souvenir stands around "suicide mountain" were selling toy swords.....
