On May 5, I went to Kamedo (part of the old town of Tokyo) to see a parade of elderly men dressed up as samurais from the Heian period.(Ie. around one thousand years ago.) Some of the men in the parade looked like they were born in the Heian period. There was one thing that was never explained to me; if these men were supposed to be Heian period samurais, why on earth were they wearing neckties? Posted by Picasa
