HEY, WHAT IS GOING ON HERE! Why does Tokyo Tower have the year 2016 on it's front? Have we all taken a trip in some kind of giant time machine and wound up suddenly in the year 2016? Actually this is part of a campaign to have the Olympics come to the Big Mikan (ie. Tokyo) in the year 2016..... 

 

 

Why are there a bunch of dog statues in front of Tokyo Tower? This is a memorial for the dogs who died in a Japanese expedition to the South Pole in 1959. The dogs were left on an island after a storm. When the researchers could finally return, they only found two dogs left alive.
