This is a film of one of the strangest things I have ever seen in my life. (And BELIEVE ME YOU, the Bloggster has seen plenty of strange things......) I filmed this in a very small Chinese temple in Georgetown. (Penang) I am not certain what was going on , but I think it was some kind of your everyday spirit possession and communication with the dead thingumajig. One man appeared to be in a trance and I think was writing letters to a dead relative of the woman who was sitting next to him. What was exceptionally strange about this event was the "performance" of the woman who appeared to be in some sort of trance too. Her head was rotating at an incredibly fast speed while she was making this quite strange whishing sound. I do not understand how she could keep her head going around and around for all the time I was there. (about 5 minutes.) Just looking at her in the video makes me feel dizzy! I am not a superstitious person so I think this was all some sort of fraud. I think the whole show was cooked up to get money from people who thought they could communicate with dead relatives.... However I must say the fraudsters put on one dern good show. After I took a few photos and filmed for a minute a woman put up her hand in front of my camera . It was only the second time in Malaysia when I faced any trouble photographing. The first time was when I was taking a photo of a mosque late in the evening. A 7 or 8 year old kid who was begging at the entrance of the mosque with his mother came over to me and started to vigorously shake my tripod. At the same time a man's voice rang out from the shadows near by . He shouted in heavily accented English "Go away!" Needless to say I did just that ....but not before I had finished taking a few more pictures of the mosque . Before my hasty retreat I also had time to stare at the brat in anger.
